Prof. Unita Sachidanand (Ph.D)

Dr. Unita Sachidanand is currently head of the Department of East Asian Studies, University of Delhi. She teaches Japanese literature and is the forerunner in translating mainstream Japanese literature into Hindi and Indian literature into Japanese. She has a number of books and research articles to her credit. Unita Sachidanand was a Mombusho research fellow at the Nara Women’s University and visiting fellow at the Chiba National University under the Faculty Development Fellowship of the Japan Foundation. She is the President of Indo-Japan Association for Literature and Culture and ‘Akogare no Kai’: India Chapter of International Society of Takuboku Studies. She is also the Vice President of Discover Japan Club in India and Executive member of JALTAI (Association of Japanese Language Teachers of India).

Prof. Gita A. Keeni (Ph.D)

Gita A. Keeni is a Professor of Japanese and the current Head of the Department of Japanese at Visva Bharati. She holds a dual Master’s in Philosophy (University of Calcutta) and in History with a dissertation on ‘Concept of Karma and Rebirth in Japan as Elicited in the Nihon Ryōiki’ (Tokyo Joshi Daigaku). She was awarded her PhD under the Women’s Studies Research Centre, University of Calcutta. A major part of the research work was conducted at the International Research Center for Japanese Studies (Nichibunken), Kyoto, under the Japan Foundation Doctoral Fellowship. Her publications include works on Japanese Language, Literature, Socio-Cultural Studies, Paremiology, and Tagore & Japan, in Japanese, English and Bengali. Her latest major work is the edited Conference Volume titled ‘Rabindranath Tagore and Japan: Tagore and Japan & Various Aspects of Japanese Culture’.

Prof. Sraboni Roy Choudhuri (Ph.D)

Dr. Srabani Roy Choudhury is a Professor in Japanese Studies Centre for East Asian Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Her association with Japan began with Japan Foundation Fellowship 1996-1997. She has been on visiting scholar programme to Keizai Koho Centre, Ministry of Economics and Industry, Japan, Policy Research Institute, Ministry of Finance, Japan, Kobe University, Nagoya University and Keio University. Her recent publications are centered on economic diplomacy between Japan and India with reference to Japanese business. In light of the power dynamics in Indo-Pacific region, her interest looks at India- Japan relations in this perspective. She has to her credit four edited volumes Japan- SAARC Partnership: A Way Ahead (2014) and India-Japan Relations @ 70: Building Beyond Bilateral (2022). The Indo-Pacific Theatre: Strategic Visions and Frameworks (2022), Japan and Its Partners in the Indo-Pacific: Engagements and Alignment (2023).
